441 Cambridge to Chicago

Here we go! After months of planning and anticipation, our epic odyssey in the Odyssey has begun. Thanks to the mechanical gifts of Nick Watterson and the organizational skills of Mary Beth Seefelt,  our van has been prepped for a nearly seven thousand mile journey which will take us from home to the Grand Canyon and back in the next 12 days.

All of us, Mary Beth, Zack, Nick, Grace and Chris are all excited for what promises to be a true trip of a lifetime.

Last night we made amazing, traffic-free time from home to Chicago and drove straight to the world-famous Weiner Circle for an obligatory snack - Chicago-style hot dogs and cheese fries. At first, the staff and clientele were relatively calm, but the "chocolate milk shakes" did make an appearance before we left.

Today we will visit our old neighborhood and the house where the Zack and Nick were born and lived before we moved back to Detroit in 2003. We look forward to hanging out in Andersonville before heading toward the Clay-Wulf's house in Omaha.

Just before taking off

The kids

The thrill of Lakeshore Drive in Downtown Chi-town

Chicago-Style is tough to beat

The Weiner Circle is always an adventure...

...inside or out
